RAIN WATER HARVESTING

Scope

  • To improve the level of groundwater by capturing and collecting the rain water from rooftop run-offs and storing the rainwater, by the practice of Rain Water Harvesting.
  • To save the water for landscaping and washing purpose.

Process

Rain water is collected from rooftop run-offs of the college main building and it must be conveyed through channel. The collected water is stored for further processing and purifying. The filtration process involves four different layers which follows bottom layer of broken bricks, middle layer of coarse aggregates & bricks and upper top layer of charcoal form. This natural filtration helps to purify the rain water. This practice has solved the problem of deficiency of water and also the ground level of water has increased. The stored water is then utilised for the gardening and washing purpose
